When students head back to class in October there will still be other kids who are going to stay at home and work remotely on their laptops and other devices. Ysleta Independent School District parents say the district's plan of having teachers in the classroom teaching not only the kids who are in their classroom but also the kids who are working from home is unworkable.

YISD officials say even when they are in the classroom, students will need their laptops because of the arrangement of having teachers doing both in-classroom and online teaching. Parents told a local news station that to have a teacher trying to keep a class going and making sure everybody is logged on and answering students questions and navigating different apps and teaching kids at home is way too stressful.

YISD says because they don't know how many kids will returning to the classroom and many will continue to learn from home, they can't determine if they have enough teachers to dedicate to teaching kids at home. I would think that if they did that, they would have to make sure that the teachers who are teaching the class are the ones who understand the curriculum and not just a person making sure that kids stay logged on.

This was never going to be an easy year, and as a parent, you have the right to question everything about your child's education because after all, you're paying property taxes to the district to ensure that they get a good education, but if you have questions, the best thing to do is to ask them your question but remember that all districts have to do what is best for students overall, not individually.
