UPDATE: Prince William and Kate Middleton have named their baby George Alexander Louis.

The royal family is been mum on the gender of the baby and only revealing Princess Kate’s due date as “mid-July,” making it hard to speculate on what Will and Kate might name the baby.  My guess, which has absolutely no better insight than the next person, is the duo might honor William’s late mother, Princess Diana, if the baby is female. As for a male name, you can probably bet it will be a traditional English name like Thomas, James, Oliver, and George.

According to ModernMom.com, the most popular male names in Britain are

  • Jack
  • Oliver
  • Charlie
  • Harry
  • Alfie
  • Thomas
  • Joshua
  • William
  • James
  • Daniel

The 10 most popular names for girls are

  • Olivia
  • Ruby
  • Sophie
  • Chloe
  • Emily
  • Grace
  • Jessica
  • Lily
  • Amelia
  • Evie

So what do you think? Diana Grace rolls nicely off the tongue. As does Thomas William. I guess we’ll just have to wait. You can bet, however, that we’ll update you with the official name of Will and Kate’s baby as soon as it’s announced.
