Why People Are ‘Freezing’ Their Social Medias Accounts This Week

People may have trouble finding some of their favorite celebrities on social media today and fora full 24 hours. Some of those celebrities may be explaining their decision to leave social media, but if your favorite celebrity hasn't here's why. Many celebrities will be freezing their social media account for a full 24 hours today in support of the #StopForHate or #StopHateForProfit campaign. According to the website:

"Stop Hate For Profit is an ongoing campaign to hold social media companies accountable for hate on their platforms. Social media must prioritize people over profit, and they must do it now."

The campaign worked with over 1,2000 businesses, non-profits, and various celebrities back in July when the group organized an advertising pause. Now, they are working with even more people today for their #StopForHate campaign, when people are asked to freeze their social media accounts for one day. And the campaign has some big names joining the cause.

Kim Kardashian West is probably the biggest name joining the cause, with a massive following. She explained why she was joining the #StopForHate campaign on her Twitter:
