White Claw Hard Seltzer Review
The latest American infatuation next to Popeye's Chicken sandwiches, is the new hard seltzer drink, White Claw.
White Claw – you may have seen the commercials on television or heard them on the radio, it is a hard seltzer that comes in various flavors. The canned drink is made with a blend of seltzer water, gluten-free alcohol base, and a hint of fruit flavor. One can contains 100 calories, 2g carbs, and 5% alc/vol, and is available in 5 fruit flavors including Natural Lime, Black Cherry, Red Grapefruit, Mango and Raspberry.
The first time I tried one was over the Labor Day weekend during our annual Fantasy Football meet. One of our friends showed up with a variety pack and I just had to try one to see what the fuss was all about.
I had the Red Grapefruit White Claw and I must confess, it was so refreshing, crisp, and not sweet at all with the perfect red grapefruit taste. I didn’t much care for the Black Cherry and didn’t try any other flavors however I must say that the alcohol is so subtle that I easily found myself consuming three over a 2 hour period and could feel myself getting drunk, so a word of caution when downing these when you’re out on the town.
The White Claw craze is reminiscent of the Zima phase back in the ‘90s when everybody was so obsessed with the carbonated cooler.
White Claw’s reputation expanded so quickly that there is an actual shortage of the hard seltzer and people are freaking out. Fans have taken to social media to express their distress over the popular beverage being sold out at stores across the country. White Claw is apparently working around the clock to accommodate the demand.
As of now, I haven’t heard of a shortage in El Paso or Las Cruces but that may just change in the next few days, so go get yours before they fly off the shelves here too.
