Parental concerns over things like traffic safety and taking candy from unknown origins has resulted in trick-or-treating evolving over the years to include more family-friendly alternatives to the traditional neighborhood doorbell ringing.

Events touting "safe" trick or treating hosted by churches, organizations and shopping centers have become more and more popular in El Paso over the years.
