Would you say El Paso is a "fun" city? Judging by the results of a new report, our city is lacking in the pleasure and enjoyment department.

Wallethub recently re-ranked the 182 largest cities in America for the 2019 Most Fun Cities in America list and its data determined El Paso could use a visit from the Fun Police.

According to its numbers-crunchers, El Paso's fun factor is good enough for a #72 ranking, up one notch from last year's placement. Sure, 72 is not quite as festive as any of the other major Texas cities, which were all ranked in the Top 30, but at least we're way more fun than Las Cruces (#114). Heck, El Paso even ranked higher than Anaheim (#90) and they’re home to the Happiest Place on Earth.

To determine rankings, The list-happy personal finance site looked at factors such as the number of entertainment attractions, restaurants, sports facilities per capita, as well as the average open hours of bars and breweries, presence of music festivals and nights clubs, and how much it costs to do stuff.

Although El Paso scored near the top in the "Cost" category (6), it was 77 in "Entertainment & Recreation" and an anemic #102 in "Nightlife & Parties" leading to it's middle of the pack overall ranking of #72.

But, hey, at least we’re moving up.

Maybe with the city trying to lure out-of-town entertainment venues by creating all those TIRZs, and dangling millions of dollars in tax incentives and millions more in land to entice Great Wolf Lodge to build one of their resorts on the west side we’ll break into the Top 50 someday.

But I'd settle for a Cheesecake Factory.
