Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is a day of celebration, enjoying rich foods, drink and overindulgence all leading up to Ash Wednesday where folks usually fast for the Lenten season.

This year Mardi Gras lands on Tuesday, March 4th.

Did you know that Mardi Gras is actually celebrated by different cultures all around the world?

One of the most popular celebrations is Carnival in Rio De Janerio, Brazil where over 1.5 million people attend every year.

While Mardi Gras is not an officially observed holiday in the United States, the most popular of all festivals takes place in New Orleans.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans revolves around parades, lots of music and an overall raucous celebration that takes place in the French Quarter. People from all over are there to party and have a good time, wearing masks, and costumes and don and collect beads.
