What is the Steel Structure Going Up in Northwest El Paso?
If you’ve been to the West Town Marketplace in far west El Paso lately you’ve no doubt noticed how busy the area has become and how it’s booming with new construction.
And if you’ve traveled up or down Paseo Del Norte maybe you've noticed a multi-story building going up around the area where El Paso’s first Dutch Bros Coffee just opened. If you’re wondering what it is going to be, I got you
Drum roll, please ...
The steel structure is the beginnings of an indoor climbing gym. It’s called Sessions Climbing + Fitness, and when it's all said and done the specialty gym will be “a cutting-edge facility with Olympic level sport climbing walls, a bouldering section, speed climbing walls, beginners’ section, yoga and free weights,” according to the website.
This is the architectural rendering of what it will look like once completed ...
Its size is not just to accommodate the climbing walls, but also the café and lounge, party center, and gear shop it will house. Additional amenities include a yoga studio, and fitness equipment in the second-floor mezzanine.
Sessions Climbing and Fitness is the next step for Sessions Climbing & Guiding, the guided climbing tours business one of the co-owners has been operating for close to ten years. I'm told they’ll continue the Hueco Tanks climbing tours while the gym is under construction as well as after the gym opens.
The 15,300 square foot climbing gym is tentatively scheduled to open at the end of March 2022 or in April, depending on how things go.
