What Is Labor Day and Why Do We Celebrate It

I've always of course loved that we get today off, but why? Not until I work a ton did I ponder this question!

Labor day is simply a day set aside to pay tribute to the hard working man or women. So we DO deserve the day off and some great sales! My favorite part of the whole holiday. The first Labor day parade is reported to have taken place back in September of 1882! Man our four Fathers had great ideas!

Actually it was Peter J. McGuire who was credited with the holiday by setting up Labor Unions and whom was a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a cofounder of the American Federation of Labor. I love him already for giving us the day off!
