Westside traffic could get worse if a proposed 22-story tower is built near Shadow Mountain and Mesa.
The $100 million project would bring retail spaces, 219 hotel rooms, 228 apartments and a 715-car parking garage to the area.

Some residents are worried because they say the tower could add an additional 400 to 1,000 people per day to the traffic patterns of the area, but others think the additional traffic is something that needs to be dealt with for progress to happen.

The El Paso City Council is expected to vote on the rezoning request in about a month.

When the Montecillo project was being built, there were a lot of people who were worried that traffic would be a
headache, but doesn’t seem to be problem. The addition of a lot of retail space in that area, as well as some very good restaurants, also appears to have been a good thing for the area.

Hopefully, this project will do the same a little further up Mesa.
