Summer is on its way, and that can only mean one thing - IT'S TIME TO EAT A TON OF ICE CREAM. You might think there is nothing new under the sun about ice cream, but there is. Specifically, there is a new type of Baskin Robbins store that will be opening soon in west El Paso.

Baskin Robbins unveiled its "Moments" concept store in El Paso at 929 Sunland Park Drive, one of only two in the nation. The other is in Fresno, California that opened in 2018. Baskin Robbins officials say the new store showcases what they see as the future look and feel of their stores in the U.S. The mother and daughter team who own El Paso's 10 Baskin Robbins locations say they were thrilled to be a part of the new store concept rollout because the ice cream retailer has "played such a major role in our family's history."

The new look incorporates a more contemporary look with bright colors for guests to create special moments. An updated menu will feature new products like hand-dipped and snackable frozen treats, including chocolate-dipped bananas, Polar Pizza slices, Ice Cream Bars and Smoothie Bars. You will also be able to customize your treats with an expanded toppings station.

One of the coolest additions to the location is a wall mural filled with local points of interest. The mural includes images of the Star on the Mountain, the Streetcar, the historic Socorro Mission, and Paydirt Pete.

One of my favorite features about the new Baskin Robbins is the drive-thru. Much as I love me a good cone of Jamoca Almond Fudge, I don't always want to get out of my car to get it. If you want to get down and see the sleek new design of the Moments Baskin Robbins on Sunland Park, you can check it out during their grand opening on Saturday, March 30, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be prizes, ice cream specials, and entertainment for the kids. The new store's regular hours will be Monday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
