Earlier this morning, some of the biggest sports greats in Dallas joined Babe Laufenberg for the second annual #LiveLikeLuke coffee fundraiser. This year, UTEP head football coach Dana Dimel and starting quarterback Gavin Hardison attended the event, which honors the memory of former UTEP tight end Luke Laufenberg. Hardison will wear Luke's #2 jersey for the 2022 college football season. Laufenberg died at the age of 21 of Burkitt's leukemia in 2019.

Former athletes Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Jason Witten, Mark McLemore, Darren Woodson, Marty Turco, and Jason Garrett joined Dimel and Hardison at the annual #LiveLikeLuke coffee at Al Biernat’s in Dallas. Attendees shared coffee and conversation, a favorite pastime for both Luke and Babe.

Donations raised from the event will help support UTEP student athletes through the Luke Laufenberg FIGHT Fund. Last year, the Miners football program introduced a new smoothie station that is dedicated to Luke. While walking on at Texas A&M prior to his time at UTEP, Laufenberg loved the smoothies he received after practice every day and the family wanted to incorporate that same concept at UTEP. The Luke Laufenberg Nutrition Station is located inside the Larry K. Durham Center near the weight room.

Fans are also able to donate to the Luke Laufenberg "FIGHT" Excellence fund by donating any dollar amount on the official donation page. Thus far, the Laufenberg family has raised over $100,000 for UTEP scholarship athletes and they plan on having the #LiveLikeLuke coffee fundraiser every year. The Miners open their 2022 season at home on Saturday, August 27th against North Texas.
