Gardeners, future gardeners or anyone who loves plants! This weekend you’re invited to the biggest native plant sale in the region; The Annual FloraFEST native plant sale!

FloraFEST is the only fundraiser for the maintenance and operation of the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens. Shoppers will have the opportunity to shop for the best selection in plants that have been selected to thrive in our environment.

This annual event will also provide shoppers with the opportunity to meet local Master Gardeners, horticulturists, and other plant experts for advice on how to care for their plants at home.

“We sell mostly native and native-adapted (plants that are not native to our region but will grow well here) plants, many of which are not available at local nurseries or retailers,” read information on the events official website.

The plant sale will be held in the patio area between the museum and the Undergraduate Learning Center on UTEP’s campus. It will take place on Saturday, April 30th 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, shoppers are encouraged to shop early before they sell out!

Free parking for this event will be available at the Sun Bowl Parking Garage. Event organizers recommend parking in that area while you browse the sale. You will be able to leave your plants in the “plant parking” spot while you bring your vehicle to the loading zone in front of the UGLC. Volunteers will be available to help you load your vehicle.

Shoppers can also bring their own wagon or cart if they need to. You can visit florafest.org for more information, including how you can volunteer for this great event and fundraiser.

“Native plants are beautiful, and they help conserve water, require less maintenance, and are more cold-hardy than plants from other parts of the world,” said event organizers. “Native plants also provide food and habitat for birds, bees, and butterflies. Using native plants in your yard is one step that we can take to help restore a healthy ecosystem in El Paso.”
