Free Vertical Horizon Concert, Family Activities at UTEP Pregame Party
It’s great to see a renewed interest by UTEP officials in producing a better overall game day fan experience. This season that includes a home game pregame parking lot party with live music, food trucks, and kid-friendly activities.
The next one is this Saturday, September 25. El Pasoans are invited to gather in the GR2 Parking Lot next to the Larry K. Durham Center beginning at 4 p.m. for a concert and other game day festivities. Not only is it free to attend, you don’t even have to be going to the game.
Free Vertical Horizon Mini-Concert
The parking lot party will feature Vertical Horizon playing a few of their jams. Their set will be preceded by local favorites King Octopus and a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band.
Vertical Horizon hit it big in 1999 with their double platinum-selling album "Everything You Want" which included the massive number one single by the same name.
The alt-rock band is replacing Jack Russell’s Great White which cancelled due to unspecified “health issues that he needed to take care of,” according to Speaking Rock. The entertainment venue sponsors the pregame party.
Pregame Festivities
In addition to the live music entertainment, Pregame Party attendees will have access to various vendors and food trucks, and family-friendly activities including a few inflatables for the kids.
Fans can also cheer on the UTEP football team as they arrive at the stadium ready to defend their home turf against the New Mexico Lobos.
The Miner Walk, as the parade-like celebration has been dubbed, happens about two hours before game time and includes the UTEP marching band and spirit squad leading the team to their locker room and the crowd in cheers.
