The University of El Paso will be celebrating Martin Luther King by paying it forward to the less fortunate in El Paso.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, UTEP will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2016.

As part of the MLK Remembrance, UTEP will hold a celebration on Tuesday, January 19th at the Centennial Plaza on campus and is also the first day of the Spring 2016 semester.

The UTEP Office of Student Life will host “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Day of Remembrance” 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Centennial Plaza. Members of the UTEP community will read the “I Have a Dream” speech, and the Office of Student Life will accept non-perishable foods, blankets and winter clothing which will be distributed back to the El Paso community who is most in need.
