The UTEP men's basketball team might be hosting another in-season event besides the annual Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational.

Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported on Tuesday that UTEP would host a MTE (Multi-Team Event) on November 22, 23 and 25. The field of teams will include Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Cal State Bakersfield and Alcorn State.

This is the first time the men's basketball team hosts a second in-season event like this. The Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational, which hasn't revealed its field for 2022, is typically in the middle of December each year. Now, the Miners will have an opportunity to host a pair of holiday events.

The Miners will face Texas out of the Big 12 on Monday, Nov. 7, as the first game played at the Moody Center in Austin.

Texas A&M Corpus Christi finished 23-12 in 2021-22, including a fourth place spot in the Southland Conference. Head coach Steve Lutz will enter the second year at the helm for the Islanders. Cal State Bakersfield is looking to have a bounce-back season under long time head coach Rod Barnes. The Roadrunners finished with an 8-19 overall record and finished ninth in the Big West conference. Lastly, Alcorn State wants to continue their momentum from last year's 17-17 record and first place regular season finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Braves, coached by Landon Bussie, missed qualifying for the NCAA Tournament to Texas Southern.

Typically, UTEP men's basketball officially releases its 2022-23 schedule in the late part of the summer once it's finalized.
