Tonight, March 2nd, 2021 starting at 6 p.m., El Pasoans in need of their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have another opportunity to sign up through UMCelpaso.org.

According to KVIA, registration will only be open until all spots are filled.

If it is anything like the previous attempts of prior UMC online registrations, you can expect it to fill up within minutes.

Last time I waited around and it only took three minutes for the website to refresh and say all spots have been taken.

For those super seniors who are still in need of their first COVID-19 vaccine, 1,000 registrations will open up online and by phone on Thursday, March 4th, 2021 at 9 a.m.

Some frustrated KISSFM listeners shared their theories on why some people are getting spots quickly. They are using gaming computers. Not going to lie, if your kid or someone you know has a gaming computer with a great processor, I would use that computer to try to get an appointment.

Please, make sure to register if you fall into one of the categories they are looking to vaccinate. Those groups are 1A and 1B.

According to dshs.texas.gov, the 1A category consists of:

  • Front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities

Category B consists of:

  • People 65 years of age and older
  • People 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts
them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as
    but not limited to:
  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
  • Solid-organ transplantation
  • Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
