TxDot Reminds Super Bowl Fans To Find a Sober Ride Home
Super Bowl is this Sunday and if you plan on drinking, then you should plan on finding a safe ride home.
Super Bowl is this weekend as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers out in Miami, FL. Fans will be hosting their own cookouts and gathering with friends and family but if your plans include going out to a bar, make sure that you have a sober ride home.
The Texas Department of Transportation is reminding football fans to “Plan While You Can” for a sober ride before enjoying game day watch parties and other activities that may include alcohol.
According to TxDot statistics, last year’s Super Bowl weekend, 310 DUI-alcohol related crashes took place which killed 11 people and seriously injured another 27.
Driving drunk is not worth your life, serious injuries, or getting in trouble with the law as drivers can face up to $17,000 in fines and fees, jail time and loss of their driver’s license.
Instead, consider alternative modes of transportation:
- Designate a sober driver
- Ride Uber, Lyft, or a cab
- Use public transportation including Sun Metro or the El Paso Streetcar
- Spend the night
- Call a family member or friend
November 7, 2000, was the last deathless day on Texas roadways. #EndTheStreakTX asks all Texans to commit to driving safely to help end the streak of daily deaths on Texas roadways.
