On Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 the El Paso community learned about two types of employees who have tested positive for COVID-19.

A Lower Valley Water District employee and a US Postal Service employee have tested positive for COVID-19. If you are like me, you probably freaked out learning that information. Both companies have reassured El Pasoans that these two employees did not work with the public.

The Lower Valley Water District employee worked mostly on the field, so he did have interactions with contractors that work with the company. The names of those contractors were not shared with KTSM. The company did share with KTSM that 25 of their field operations team employees are now quarantined.

As for the US Postal Service employee, according to KTSM, the employee "did not work with the public" and reminded the public the virus can not be spread on packages or mail, according to the U.S. Surgeon General. Trust me, I freaked out going to the post office on Monday but people wear wearing masks and only helping one customer at a time.

As the job market continues to attempt to work during a risky time for employees, please remember to not only protect yourself but protect those essential employees.
