After 8 years together, Darren and I got married on June 15th in my parent's backyard.  It was a small wedding - about 45 people - and this past weekend, we got the pictures back from our photog!

The ceremony was at 6:30, and you can ask Mike, it was a tad warm!  But, all I noticed was the judge talking about marriage, and wondering why we hadn't done this years ago.  But, it turns out, this was the perfect moment!

We got married in the backyard of the house I grew up in, the house my folks have lived in for 46 years.  It was the perfect place for us to say our vows to each other.  We listened as the judge spoke about marriage:

Then, Darren said his vows:

And, I said mine:

And then we were man and wife, kissing for the first time as a married couple!

We had such a lovely day, and we were so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends.  Darren's best friend and his wife came in from Dallas.  Jon was the Best Man, and gave an amazing toast.  His wife, Natalie, was so much fun and such a help to me in the days leading up to the wedding.  My best friend, Yvette, was my Maid of Honor.  She is like another sister to me, and has been my best friend for over 30 years!  Having her there was so special to me.

I got to wear the necklace my mom wore when she married my dad.  It belonged to my great-aunt.  I also wore earrings that belonged to my great-aunt, and a bracelet that my dad had made for my mom years ago.  Lots of "something borrowed"!

Many, many thanks to our friend, Cesar Ruiz, for the amazing pictures, to Trattoria Bella Sera for the amazing dinner, and to Julie Adauto at Orange Peel Bakery for the best wedding cake EVER!
