Over 91 Thousand People Duped into thinking Ascarate Lake Looks Different
We've been bamboozled. Well, actually, if you're not from El Paso then you've been bamboozled.
In a new trend taking over TikTok, you Google Earth a location and then proceed to zoom in on that exact location, all this while being accompanied to a sped up version of Aerosmith's "Dream On". Check out an example below:
The trend is meant to show off the beauty of a certain location. However, some have decided to take that trend into a different location.
TikTok user @michelleacts' most recent take on the trend has Ascarate Lake at the center. @Michelleacts decided to show all of TikTokhas the majestic beauty of Ascarate Lake. I know what you might be thinking: "majestic beauty and Ascarate Lake should not be in the same sentence". But somehow, in this light hearted take, @michelleacts managed to go viral.
Hilarious, right?
I'm glad to report that a majority of the comments all took it in good stride as well!
No manches! Maybe when Western Playland was still there. Good one thoo. El Paso is chingon thoo
Ah, Western Playland at Ascarate Park is something we all miss.
I also like how some kept the joke going:
God I miss the snow capped mountains of El Paso
And of course, someone had to make a Chico's reference:
Chico's tacos is at bottom of mountain. 100% accurate.
The video has gained over 90,000 likes and over two thousand comments! Thanks to @michelleacts for the laugh, and props to El Pasoans for keeping the joke going!
No, Ascarate Lake doesn't look like that, but at least we have a good sense of humor about it.
