The Glazy Donut Just Blew My Mind With It’s Horchata Donuts

El Paso, get ready for a new donut experience as The Glazy Donut Co. opens on the corner of Mesa & University.

El Paso is home to some fantastic local donut shops such as Weirdoughs Bakery & Cafe and The Dapper Doughnut. Now El Pasoans have another option as The Glazy Donut Co. opens, serving up some unique donuts, local coffee, and other sweet treats near UTEP.

The Glazy Donut Co. took over the short-lived B & W: Burgers, Wings & Beer joint, which was previously Johnny Rockets, and several gas station incarnations before then.

Over the last few months, I’ve been trolling the new locale as it was getting remodeled with a new paint job saturated in bright colors and new outdoor seating.

The Glazy Donut Co. is a new concept from the creators of Lemon Beaters, which serves out freshly squeezed lemonade in 15 different flavors and seven styles of corn dogs, and hand-cut fries.

The local team behind Lemon Beaters had such great success with their first McRae location that they opened a second shop in Dyer and now have set their sights on something sweeter with The Glazy Donut Co.

The Glazy Donut Co. concept aims to provide delicious artisan doughnuts with a handful of flagship doughnuts along with seasonal options.

As you might imagine, I immediately hit them up to get a taste of The Glazy myself, and these were my ultimate favorites:

• Horchata – Magic seems to be the key ingredient in this delicately balanced Horchata flavored donut.
• Cookies & Cream – This donut was sinfully delicious, cookie crumbles included.
• Coconut Delight – If a Girl Scout Samoas cookie were a donut - this would be it.
• Blueberry Crunch – You had me at blueberry, and the crunch elevates this delightful treat.

Currently, The Glazy offers twelve different artisanal donuts plus coffee and cold “refresher” drinks such as the classic piña colada and strawberries and cream to new combinations including Charcoal Mocha Latte and Lavender Horchata.
