This 74-Year-Old Texas Woman Proves It’s Never Too Late to Chase Your Dreams

When you hear the name Elsa, you might think of a Disney princess, but El Paso has its own real-life queen of inspiration and she is proving that age is nothing but a number!

At 74, Elsa is about to graduate from El Paso Community College’s (EPCC) Cosmetology Department with a certification that allows her to get licensed by the State of Texas. 

“Elsa has been a pleasure to have around,” said Cecilia Dominguez, EPCC’s Cosmetology Program Coordinator. “She’s shown us all that you’re never too old to learn a new trade.”  

But Elsa isn’t new to smashing goals. She already holds a Bachelor’s in Business and a Master’s in Education. After stepping away from her career to care for loved ones, Elsa decided it was finally time to focus on herself.  

“I’ve taken care of everyone else, now it’s my time,” Elsa said. “Why not do something fun?”  

Elsa’s fearless approach to life has inspired classmates decades younger than her. Whether she’s mastering haircuts or perfecting pedicures, her passion shines through. She’s even served clients who are amazed by her energy and determination.  

Her family may think she’s a little “crazy” for going back to school, but they’re also bursting with pride.  

Elsa’s advice to women who may think they’re too old to start a new goal in life?

 

“Do what you love. It’s never too late to start over.”  

 

With graduation just around the corner, Elsa proves that chasing your dreams has no age limit—and she’s doing it with style.
