LIST: Texans List Of Best Baseball Films Ever
BATTER UP! Baseball season is here in El Paso and soon, locals and visitors will be filling up El Paso Chihuahuah’s stadium to watch some good ole fashioned baseball!
Everytime I go to a chihuahua’s game I feel like I’m in the middle of one of the greatest baseball movies ever! Why? I dunno. I’ve probably seen way too many baseball movies, but if I had to narrow all those movies down to what I believe was the greatest baseball movie of all, The Sandlot would take the trophy!
Apparently, I’m not alone in thinking The Sandlot is one of the greatest baseball movies ever. I asked listeners on Facebook to share their favorite baseball movie with us and their answers did not disappoint!
From childhood nostalgia to inspirational true stories, here are the top picks that hit home for our audience.
⚾ 1. The Sandlot (1993) – The Undisputed Champ
By far the most-mentioned movie, The Sandlot stole home with its coming-of-age charm, legendary quotes, and the pure joy of kids just playing ball. As listener Dominic de Luna put it, "Baseball is about being a kid and having fun. Forget the world and just have fun."
🏆 2. A League of Their Own (1992) – There’s No Crying in Baseball!
This empowering classic about the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League had plenty of fans cheering. Kelly Jaime, Cristina Marie, and Cody Morgan all gave it a solid vote, proving that Dottie and the Rockford Peaches still have game!
🌽 3. Field of Dreams (1989) – If You Build It, They Will Come
A few of you got sentimental with this Kevin Costner classic. Angelica Garcia Hughes and Vanessa Gutierrez placed it near the top, because who doesn’t get chills hearing that whisper in the cornfield?
⚡ 4. The Natural (1984) – The Home Run Hero
With Robert Redford as the legendary Roy Hobbs, The Natural had strong support from Jorge Rubio, Adam Lee, and Randall Cadenhead. It’s baseball with a bit of magic, and let’s be real—who doesn’t love a dramatic light-shattering home run?
