Teenagers will have to jump through another hurdle in their quest for the holy grail of teendom -- a driver's license. Beginning Sept. 1, teens and new drivers from ages 18-24 will have to take the Impact Texas Teen Drivers course in addition to their regular driver's education course.

The Texas Department of Safety is going to require that new drivers complete the course before they’re can take the driving skills exam. The program consists of a series of modules about distracted driving, which is the leading cause of death for teens.

When the new driver completes the program, they will get a Certificate of Completion that has to be presented before they can take their driver skills examination.
