I love the downtown El Paso streetcar. I know Mike doesn't, but I'm working on him. If you haven't checked it out, now is the perfect time to. This summer there has been live music on the streetcars, they have extended hours so you can ride late into the evening, and there are even fun events tied in with the El Paso Public Library for the whole family.

The El Paso Public Library and the El Paso Streetcar will be hosting Read-Alongs in July and August that will take the place of the Main Library’s regularly scheduled story time. You can meet up with Lea, the Library’s mascot, outside the El Paso Streetcar stop at El Paso and Franklin across from Cleveland Square Park. From there, you'll board the El Paso streetcar. You and your beasties can even dress up as your favorite storybook characters.

Seating is limited on the streetcar, so go to the Main Library at 501 Oregon at 10:30 a.m. on Read-Along day. You'll need to get tickets to ride. If you miss this Read Along on the streetcar, don't worry - there will be another happening in August. Don't forget that before and after the Read Along you can always check out the downtown library. It is the main library in the city and a great place to get your kids interested in reading. There are also a lot of things to see and do for adults.

If you want more information about events happening on the downtown streetcar, you can download the new El Paso Streetcar app. It's free and available from Google Play and the Apple App store.
