It's not just deserts and cowboys in the Lone Star state! Texas in the springtime is really a sight to be seen, the state flower is the Bluebonnet, after all. But Bluebonnets aren't the only beautiful flowers that bloom in our great state; we also have some beautiful tulips and, in my hometown of El Paso, we have the yellow poppies.

According to this bluebonnet map, the "bluebonnet tour" allows you to get the picture perfect view of the bloom; the tour goes through Kingsland, Marble Falls, Burnet, Brenham, Ennis and Austin. You can find out more on this bluebonnet map here.

Where to See the Texas Tulips

Did you know Texas has a tulip farm? Just north of Dallas in Pilot Point is a family owned tulip farm where you can walk the rows of beautiful tulips, as well as take that perfect selfie for Instagram, and even take some of the tulips home.

You can find out more and plan your visit here.

Where to See the Poppies in Texas

It's poppy season in El Paso, and this year the festivities for the Poppy Fest have returned at the Museum of Archaeology on Transmountain Road.

You can see the full list of events for the Poppy Fest here. Just a reminder when visiting the poppies not to sit or lay down in the patches for photos (like the ones below!). Smashing plants and flowers hurt seed production. Oh, and don’t pick any to take home. Leave them to propagate and scatter their seeds for next year's bloom!
