Social Media, Epic Choke-Hold Helps El Paso Man Get Stolen Truck Back
This is some epic street justice, right here.
With the help of social media, fellow El Pasoans, and “a little jiu-jitsu,” an El Paso man was able to recover his beloved stolen Blazer.
After someone took off with the truck parked in front of his house, Manuel Valenzuela reached out to the Instagram page Fit Fam El Paso for help.
Roughly 24 hours after they put the word out, several eagle-eyed El Pasoans noticed the Blazer, made the connection to the post they had seen, and alerted Valenzuela to its location. I honestly don't know how the guy thought no one was going to notice such a big, beautiful ride like that.
“Bro I think I found your truck,” read one of the messages sent to Valenzuela. “I called the cops hopefully they are on the way now. He’s still at the pump hurry man before he leaves.”
That’s when things took a dramatic turn. Instead of waiting for El Paso PD, Valenzuela raced to the location he’d been told the car thief was gassing up at and went all Cobra Kai on him.
Upon hearing his truck was spotted at a local Circle K, Manny arrived and kept the perpetrator in a headlock until EPPD showed up – FitFam El Paso
“A little jiu-jitsu,” as Manuel put it.
“Thanks to EPPD for showing up before I broke his arm off,” Valenzuela later posted.
Sadly, for Manny, the truck had almost a full tank when it was stolen, but when he caught up with the thief and confronted him at the gas pump the guy had put in less than twenty bucks.
But he’s alright with that, he’s just happy to get his truck back.
All’s well that ends well. Manuel got his truck back, several people got a cash reward, and the rest of us got that epic video screengrab of the car thief getting chocked out.
