Free Selena & Salsa Festival Takes Over Union Plaza Saturday

El Paso has a soft spot for the Queen of Tejano music, Selena, so it’s no surprise that our city would dedicate a whole event to Selena!

Selena fans are invited to The Selena & Salsa Market happening in El Paso’s Union Plaza Downtown. The event will be the 2nd annual market that will be bringing music, food, and family fun to Downtown El Paso with a free community celebration expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees to Union Plaza.

Hosted by the El Paso Downtown Management District, the event takes place Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Union Plaza.

What To Expect at The Selena & Salsa Market

The market will feature more than 40 local vendors and food booths, along with live entertainment, salsa tastings, and activities for all ages. Guests can also enjoy the La Nube Kid’s Corner and participate in one of the event’s biggest highlights, the Selena look-alike contest beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Live music will be provided by Jezzika Sax & Los Amores Prohibidos, performing Selena classics from noon to 2 p.m. The event will also include music and entertainment from Happy Hour Disco.

No Party is Complete Without Some Spicy Salsa

Another major attraction will be the salsa tasting competition, where attendees can sample different flavors before the winner is announced at 1 p.m.

“Selena & Salsa gives the community a fun reason to come Downtown, support local vendors, and experience Union Plaza,” said Ivan Bernal, Marketing and Communications Manager for the El Paso Downtown Management District. “We’re excited to welcome everyone for an afternoon of live music, flavor, and family-friendly fun.”
