Four Fun Road Trips Under 4 Hours from El Paso to Celebrate the 4th of July

The Fourth is July is coming up, and if you’re up for hitting the road I’ve put together a list of four fun events going on just a short drive away. All are less than a four hour drive from El Paso.

With the holiday being observed officially on Monday, July 5, many of us are getting or making a three-day weekend out of it. Our close proximity to Southern New Mexico and the extra day we get this year means day trips, overnighters and weekend trips are in play this 4th of July weekend.

Hit the Road and Watch Some Fireworks

From an electric light parade and Gin Blossoms concert less than an hour away to an out of this world alien adventure in the “UFO Capital of the World,” here’s where in the Land of Enchantment you can wave a flag, watch fireworks and celebrate our freedom to get out of town.

City of Las Cruces 4th of July Concert and Fireworks

The Gin Blossoms are headlining the 2021 Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks with Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats opening the show.

The annual fireworks display will begin just after the concert at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Star Spangled Celebration at Inn of the Mountain Gods

Live entertainment, activities for the kids and food vendors are part of this free family-friendly event that culminates with “the biggest and longest fireworks show in New Mexico” over the big lake.

UFO Festival 2021

The world-famous UFO Festival returns to Roswell, New Mexico to celebrate what the government wants you believe was the crash of a weather balloon at a ranch near Roswell in 1947, but what we all know was really a flying saucer. Events include a UFO themed parade, outdoor movies, live music, arts and crafts, and a 4th of July laser light show.

Sounds of Freedom, Alamogordo, New Mexico

A good old-fashioned small-town parade kicks things off followed by a late afternoon of horseshoes, face painting, jumping balloons, and food and craft vendors. The evening ends with the annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.
