Public Invited To Black History Month Celebration
The El Paso Parks and Recreation Department are inviting residents to its Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
Coming up next weekend, the Parks and Recreation Department along with Black Voice El Paso will be hosting a Black History Month Celebration featuring keynote speaker, local attorney, Ouisa D. Davis.
The afternoon will also include musical performances, artisan vendors, games and activities for kids, jumping balloons, informational booths, displays, and food trucks. The free, family-friendly celebration will also hand out special Black History swag bags to the first 100 attendees of the celebration.
Celebrated every February, Black History Month celebrates the achievements of Africa Americans and recognizes the role of blacks in U.S. history. This year, the National Black History Month theme is African Americans and the right to vote. It also marks the sesquicentennial of the Fifteenth Amendment and the right of black men to vote and is the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and the culmination of the women’s suffrage movement.
