Pit Bull Attacks and Kills Neighboring Chihuahua in El Paso’s Lower Valley

A Chihuahua is dead after being attacked in its own backyard by a neighboring pit bull. El Paso P.D. was called out to a Lower Valley home yesterday morning on reports of shots fired, and the investigation revealed that the homeowner had shot the pit bull after it jumped the fence and and attacked his dog.

This latest attack has us wondering what, if anything, should be done about pit bulls? Are pit bulls an inherently dangerous and aggressive breed that should be banned or is the real problem irresponsible owners who don’t properly train and control the dogs? Should the city consider some sort of pit bull or pit bull owner legislation?
