The holiday season is right around the corner but this year it will be completely different than any holiday season we've ever seen. The COVID-19 pandemic is going to make getting together with family and friends very difficult, but hopefully we'll all figure out a way to have the turkey and all the fixings, pie, and cookies we usually have, even if it shared with our loved ones via Zoom.

With all the cooking comes all the trash, and the he City's Environmental Services Department released their holiday garbage and recycling collection schedule for the Thanksgiving weekend. Just like last year, they are going to give their drivers Thanksgiving and the next day off to enjoy the holiday weekend with their family and friends. Last year marked the first time in more than 20 years that Environmental Services drivers had the Thanksgiving holiday weekend off. It's nice to see that it is becoming a tradition. Those guys don't have an easy job, so some time off with their families, especially this year, is something to be thankful for.

If your trash is usually picked up on a Thursday or Friday, you'll need to keep this schedule on your fridge so you don't forget the changes that have been made. These changes are being made for the Thanksgiving weekend only:

THANKSGIVING COLLECTIONS SCHEDULE:
Collections for November 26 - 27, will be rolled to Monday, November 30.
Only gray trash bins will be collected under this holiday schedule, and they should be left out until they are emptied by Environmental Services. You can set out your blue recycling bins on your next regular collection day. Check out more information on the Environmental Services website by clicking here.
