El Paso is filled with things I both never expect and am fully delighted by. Did you know that the Sun City is home to one of the largest beekeeping associations in the Borderland? Not only that, but they love beginners and you could join the next beekeeping class.

The Paseo Del Norte Beekeepers Association has been a hub for hobbyists and commercial beekeepers alike! They're also very beginner friendly, holding classes on beekeeping for people who are interested in seeing what's up with the bees!

I know most people don't think much about the Bees, but for a long time now, scientists and people much smarter than me have talked about how insanely important these tiny lil guys really are.

The loss of bees are detrimental to all life on Earth and between June 2024 and March 2025 alone, the United States lost around 60% of our domestic Bee colonies. That's 1.6 million colonies lost in less than a year.

That's why it's so important and radical that El Paso has its own association of Beekeepers! The PDN Beekeepers Association has been running since 2014 and serves the city and New Mexico. Meaning El Paso gets to be a hub in potentially keeping the Bees alive and thriving.

PLUS if you ever find a swarm of honey bees suddenly making residence in your area and you want them removed but you DON'T want the exterminators to kill them...The Beekeepers can handle it!!

One of the cool services PDN Beekeepers offers is removal of bee swarms by actual beekeepers! Meaning the swarm will be removed but in a safe way that finds them a new home and gets them away from you, your kids, or any pets.

I was able to attend one of the short form beginner beekeeping classes where you learn all about the bees and what it takes to really be a beekeeper! I heard master beekeepers and master gardeners talk about all the ways people can help bees even if they decide beekeeping isn't for them.

The Paseo Del Norte Beekeepers Association is one of the largest in the region, serving both hobbyists as well as professionals! The PDNBKA also offers memberships where amateur beekeepers can take full on courses to get hands on with the bees, or short form classes for new-bees looking to learn!
