New Mexico Man Accused Of Assaulting His Two-Year-Old Son’s Grandfather Turns Himself In

23 year old Sergio Jacquez is in custody after turning himself into authorities in Dona Ana County yesterday.

Jacquez is accused of assaulting the grandparents of his son, setting fire to their mobile home, stealing their truck, and taking off with his son from their home after the boy’s grandfather refused to turn him over to Jacquez on Monday.

Two year old Ethan Jacquez is now safely back with his grandparents.

Jacquez was with his lawyer when he turned himself in and is said to be cooperating with the investigation. Jacquez faces several charges, including arson, aggravated battery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, abuse of a child and battery.

Dona Ana officials say they are still working on a timeline that would explain the hours that Ethan was missing.
