Movies by the Lake Returns with Halloween Fun at Ascarate Park
Update 10/17/16: Commissioners Court has waived the vehicle entrance fee. Entrance into the park will be FREE.
El Paso County will be rolling out its two-movie series Movies by the Lake this month at Ascarate Park.
The outdoor event will have a Halloween twist this year with a free screening of the 1988 Michael Keaton classic, Beetlejuice on October 21, and the animated comedy Hotel Transylvania on October 28.
The family-friendly flicks will be shown on an inflatable screen set up near the waterfront across from the pavilion beginning at approximately 8 p.m.
If you plan to go, make the night a little more festive and show up in costume. The county will be hosting a costume contest about an hour before the movie start. In addition, photo opportunities with The El Paso Ghostbusters will be available.
Not only can you enjoy a movie under the stars, you can dine alfresco as well. Off the Grill BBQ, Cow Burgers & Stuff, Now Kettlecorn, and A Pastry Dream are among the food trucks that will be on site serving up their specialties.
However, you’re more than welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages -- but no alcohol. Blankets and lawn chairs, though, are permitted. The movie is free, but there will be a $5 per car entry fee at the gate, cash only.
You can find a few more details and any late breaking news on the event on the Movies by the Lake Facebook page.
