Movies by the Lake 2016 Debuts This Friday – County Waives Ascarate Park Entrance Fee
Movies by the Lake returns this weekend with a free movie screening and free entry into Ascarate Park.
This year the family-friendly event has a Halloween theme.
The first free screening will be the 1988 Michael Keaton classic, Beetlejuice, this Friday, October 21, followed by the animated comedy Hotel Transylvania next Friday, October 28.
The flicks will be shown on an inflatable screen set up near the waterfront on the lawn across from the pavilion. Showtime is approximately 8 p.m.
And thanks to County Judge Veronica Escobar and the Commissioners Court, the usual $5 vehicle entrance fee for special events has been waived. That means you get in free!
Off the Grill BBQ, Cow Burgers & Stuff, Now Kettlecorn, and A Pastry Dream are among the food trucks that will be on site serving up their specialties, however you’re more than welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages — just no alcohol.
Blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. It might be a little chilly so for sure you'll want to bring blankets and a sweater or light jacket.
The county will be hosting a costume contest about an hour before the movie starts so make the night a little more festive and show up in costume. In addition, photo opportunities with The El Paso Ghostbusters will be available.
You can find a few more details and any late breaking news on the event on the El Paso County Presents Movies by the Lake Facebook page.
