It is never a good idea to mess with a woman and her children but in Texas, such stupidity could almost get you killed.

According to reports, a Texas mother and her two sons were ambushed from the backseat of their minivan on Friday by a man threatening them with a knife. However, the robber's threats were taken as a sign of war, as the protective mother decided to retaliate against the scoundrel by crashing her van into a telephone pole, gaining control of the assailant’s weapon, pummeling his face and running him down like a vicious dog.

And while Dorothy Baker-Flugence says she did everything she could to keep her family safe, she swears that she didn’t intentionally run over the man after he jumped out of the vehicle. “I was just trying to stop him so he didn’t hurt anybody else,” she said.

Police reports indicate that Baker-Flugence and her two boys were on their way home from the CVS Friday evening, when 54-year-old Ismael Martinez, who was hiding in the backseat, jumped up with a knife and threatened to cut the two kids if she didn’t cough up $200.

Yet, Baker-Flugence was able to call 911 during her conversation with Martinez, which incidentally, was right before she gained some speed and smashed into a telephone pole along the side of the road – tossing Martinez into the front seat with her.

That’s when a fight between the two broke out, and in an attempt to pry the knife from Martinez’s hands, she beat him about the face unmercifully with her fists. Police say that is when the culprit made a run for it, but Baker-Flugence was not finished with him.

“He kind of zagged, and I turned, intending to clip him in the side or something to get him to stop, but I actually… ended up running completely over him,” said Baker-Flugence. “I told him, he messed with the wrong… witch.”

Police say that Martinez is a convicted criminal who was sentenced to prison in 1976 for rape.
