Texans are still mourning the loss of Instagram filters and honestly, we may be in mourning for quite some time but I am here with some good news that will hopefully turn that filter-less frown back into a smile.

Many El Pasoans have probably made the drive to Santa Fe to enjoy the colorful sights of Meow Wolf but now they can stay in the great state of Texas to enjoy the Meow Wolf Experience.

My son and I spent a week in Albuquerque a few years back and made the drive to Santa Fe to check out Meow Wolf after seeing all the pictures friends and family would post after visiting the art exhibit.

Honestly, I was just excited to crawl into the famous refrigerator everyone would post about on Instagram that would lead you into another room full of colorful art! That’s just one of the crazy art installations inside of Meow Wolf.

The art exhibit allows people of all ages to immerse themselves in colorful works of art that are like nothing you’ve ever experienced! The exhibit currently only has locations in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and Denver but now Texas will be added to that list!

“Are we giddy? Yup! It’s happening, y’all. Maximal art with a Texas-sized heart is coming to the Lone Star State,” read a post shared to Meow Wolf’s official Facebook page.

According to their website, Meow Wolf will be opening up two new permanent installations with the first one expected to open in 2023. The first new Texas location will be inside of Grapevine Mills Mall which is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Grapevine, Texas.

“Our exhibit will be joining other experiences like LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Aquarium inside the mall,” read the website.

The new location is something new for Meow Wolf owners because this will be the first time the art exhibit will be located inside of a mall. Owners assure Meow Wolf enthusiasts that the new location will be the start of something exciting!

“It is an exciting thought that these spaces could be filled with incredible art and immersive experiences, opening a new era of opportunity for the creative economy. We felt like Meow Wolf could help lead the way,” said Meow Wolf founder Vince Kadlubek.

The second Texas location is expect to open by 2024 in Houston, Texas.

So for many of us in El Paso, Santa Fe is a lot closer than Houston but it’s nice to see that Meow Wolf is planting their seed in Texas and hopefully soon they will open a third location a little closer to the borderland!
