Mariachi Loco Music Festival Takes Over Downtown El Paso This Weekend
The traditional sounds of mariachi music will fill the newly renovated San Jacinto Plaza this Mother's Day weekend with the return of the Mariachi Loco Music Festival.
The 3-day family-friendly fiesta will be the first major bash to utilize the plaza since it was closed for renovation nearly 3 years ago.
The festival, which celebrates both Mother's Day and the mariachi culture and tradition of our border region, will take place in and around the square this Friday through Sunday, May 6-8, and feature several special performances, including a show by renowned Ranchera star Aida Cuevas.
Affectionately known as the "The Queen of Ranchera Music”, the Latin Grammy winner has built quite the reputation as the master of the Mariachi art song.
Cuevas' special performance is just one of several to be highlighted this weekend. Local and regional mariachi troupes and dance groups will be spotlighted as well.
Gates open Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, festivities get underway at 12 noon. Ticket prices vary. You can find specifics on their Facebook page, HERE.
