The Cloud, and art sculpture created by artist David Lipski has been recognized as one of the nation’s Outstanding Public Arts Projects by the Americans for the Arts.

El Paso has a rich culture and we are home to many artists and that includes housing art and sculptures from artists from all over the world. The Cloud which stands tall in the middle of the Spur 1966 roundabout by UTEP was erected in 2016. The inspiration according to David Lipski, pays homage to the Bhutanese architecture that also graces UTEP’s façade.

The Cloud is an impressive sight as it is made to look like a floating cloud and the hundreds of metal flaps add movement and give it a pixel-like texture.
