El Paso, TX has an incredible independent music scene, one that is both connected in community and rivals the talent of bigger cities. The Sun City is filled to the brim with passionate artists creating some incredible things and sometimes, even though those musicians part ways to do other things, we get lucky enough to see them come together for something magical. On April 20th at Rosewood Bar, you'll get to see one of those reunions in person. An absolutely legendary local band, Ribo-Flavin, is getting back together and you're going to want to be at this show.

Now if you've never heard of Ribo-Flavin, that's okay, I haven't been back in my hometown for a long time so I didn't learn about them until just a few months ago. Let me tell you though, once I heard the music and watched the videos of old performances, I knew that this was a band I wanted to see live and now I finally have the chance. On top of that, Ribo was made from an already talented group of musicians living and working in El Paso on their own. As I got to meet and listen to these performers, I knew that if they ever got back together, this city would be in for a musical feast.

Ribo-Flavin originated as an experimental 5 piece band comprised of Founder, Frank Ramos (Emcee), Bruno Avitia (Bass), Eddie Provencio (Drums), Jesus Gomez (Emcee), and Adrian Loya (Guitar/Vox). They formulated their diverse sound out of a small storage room off of North Loop in central El Paso. The band then exploded into a dynamic 10 piece ensemble. The eclectic influences of Jazz, Soul, Hiphop, rock, and funk combined and gave birth to Ribo's stylistic sound. Local hiphop artist, Rebel Agnostic, is the enthusiastic and powerful frontman and wordsmith.

The band quickly became a local favorite and gained notoriety by playing in every possible venue and festival they could. Ribo-Flavin played at such events as, SXSW, Neon Desert, and Sunset Heights Block Party. Then in 2014 they were voted Best of the Border and Best of the Best Winners for best local band and if that isnt enough to convince you how incredible this group is, Ribo Flavin released their debut album in 2014 at the world renowned Sonic Ranch Studios; located in Tornillo, TX.

Ribo-Flavin created a name for themselves in the local music scene with their intricate lyrics, hypnotic horns, funky bass lines, and heavy drum beats. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and the band eventually went their separate ways in 2018. Very Very VERY fortunately though, Six years later they have decided to re-unite to celebrate their 10 Year anniversary for their 11 track record, 'Full Circle' LP. Ribo-Flavin will be playing the album in its entirety with Grammy Award Winner, Paulina Reza of Estereomance on vocals and local jazz pianist legend, Billy Townes. The lead emcee for Ribo-Flavin is also a prominent local hiphop artist who has made a huge name for himself in El Paso through his poetic lyrics and style, Rebel Agnostic.
