Kmart has announced that it indeed is closing its last store in El Paso for good come January 2018.

Come January the last Kmart store in El Paso will be closing and it’s not surprising since they had already closed four other stores earlier this year.

Just about a couple of weeks ago I visited the Kmart located at 655 Sunland Park Dr. and noticed that they had signs saying that they would no longer be carrying their layaway program which no doubt helped a lot of folks over the holiday season. That sign was literally a sign of things to come – the store was getting ready to close.

With today’s ease of technology and the behemoth Amazon trailblazing online shopping, it’s no surprise that Kmart stores have been hurting and they might not be the only retail giant that is suffering as we see an increased growth in online purchasing of everyday goods.

Kmart has begun liquidating its merchandise and plans to close in mid-January which means that you could probably score some pretty sweet items in the process, just in time for your holiday shopping.

Goodbye blue light specials we’ll remember you fondly.
