It was just earlier this year when news broke that ABC-7s Stephanie Valle would be signing off the airwaves after nearly 23 years of being on KVIA. Well, 3 months later the station has announced a new addition to their evening newscast, but a face that may be familiar to some!

In a press release sent out Monday morning, ABC-7 announced that El Pasoan, Marcel Clarke, would officially take her spot next to Paul Cicala as the new co-anchor of ABC-7’s weekday evening newscasts.

“The fact that she is from El Paso aligns with ABC-7’s commitment to local journalism that serves our loyal viewers and digital users,” said ABC-7 News Director, Sean Flanagan.

This isn’t Marcel’s first rodeo in the Sun City. She kicked off her career right here at KFOX/CBS4 before spreading her journalist wings in Kansas City and Austin.

Most recently, she’s been making waves at NBCLX, where she helped launch a show for NBC’s Peacock streaming platform. Oh, and did we mention she was the only Hispanic anchor at the Black News Channel? Talk about breaking barriers!

Marcel’s reporting has always brought her back home—whether covering the August 3rd Walmart shooting, immigration issues, or foreign policy. Now, she’s here to stay.

“I grew up in El Paso. My family is located here and in Juarez, and my work has always brought me back home,” she said.

When she’s not delivering the news, Marcel is out hiking every trail in El Paso (seriously, every single one) or giving back to her community, advocating for domestic violence survivors and cancer research—a cause close to her heart after her mother’s ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2024.

KVIA’s Brenda De Anda-Swann sums it up best:

"She’s a perfect fit for ABC-7 and the Borderland."

Marcel Clarke is set to make her on-air debut on April 7th and you can make sure to catch her on ABC-7 at 5, 6, and 10 PM. Welcome back to El Paso, Marcel!
