Kristen Bell Tackles Minimum Wage in ‘Mary Poppins’ Spoof [VIDEO]
Mary Poppins needs a raise! At least that’s what Kristen Bell is arguing in Funny or Die’s new spoof of the famed Disney movie.
The normally blonde actress dons dark hair and a red bowtie for her role as the magically inclined nanny in ‘Mary Poppins Quits.’ Not only does she look the part, but those who have seen ‘Frozen’ will know she has the vocal talent for it, too!
“Just a $3 increase can make a living wage,” she sings to the tune of ‘A Spoonful of Sugar.’
Kristen takes the stance that the minimum wage of $7.25 isn’t enough for a person — or a penguin — to live off of without falling below the poverty line. “In every job that must be done, you must be paid in more than fun,” she explains through song. “The pay’s too low, I can’t live on this dough.”
The parody is more of a statement than it is a comedy, but Kristen’s portrayal of Julie Andrews’ part is perfect and totally makes the video worthwhile.
