First things first: congrats to Khalid on winning "Choice Breakout Artist" at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. Khalid beat out some heavy hitters including Logic, Marshmello, and SZA for the honor.

And just like when he won Top New Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May and all the other times he's repped our city, El Paso’s Music Ambassador© was quick to name check his adopted hometown.

I wanna thank my mom. Thank you so much, mom, I love you. I wanna give a big shout-out to the city of El Paso, Texas. Shout-out to Texas. Love you guys so much.

Hitting the stage in a stylish beige trench coat, Khalid thanked his mother and the city that’s embraced him from the jump before walking away with his first ever TCA surfboard.

The 20 year-old Americas High School graduate collected a second board when his team-up with former Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei, the current Top 5 pop smash Love Lies, won "Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song".

Khalid showed us some major love again during an epic performance that closed out the show. El Paso's R&B superstar shut it down with a medley of hits that included a lit up stage prop that read “Scenic Drive - From the City of the 915” – a nod to the iconic El Paso landmark.
