Khalid Wins at American Music Awards, Gives El Paso & Beto Shout Out

First things first: congrats and mad love to El Paso’s Music Ambassador© on winning Favorite Male Artist - Soul/R&B at the 2018 American Music Awards.

Khalid beat out Bruno Mars and The Weeknd for the honor.

After first thanking his mom, whom he referred to as his "biggest inspiration," the R&B superstar thanked his fans and his adopted hometown yet again.

Shout out to the fans because this is because of you guys. Before I go, shout out to the 9-1-5, shout out to El Paso, Texas.

Then he gave El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke some love with a quick and subtle name-check.

Khalid responded with the words "thank you so much man!!" and a heart emoji.

This is the third music awards show the Americas High School graduate has collected an award at this year. He won Top New Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May, and Choice Breakout Artist at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards this past August.
