The Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees will feature singer and activist Joan Baez along with Lila Downs, Steve Earle and Patty Griffin. The concert aims at raising money for displaced individuals and gives them the opportunity to heal, learn and succeed on their own.
The Jesuit Refugee Service, who has teamed up with the UNHCR (UN refugee agency) hopes to shed light on the growing global refugee issue and provide educational opportunities through the Jesuit Refugee Services Global Education Initiative.
