If you have any Braga Fresh washed and ready-to-eat 12 oz. bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets with UPC code 6 81131 32884 5, lot code BFFG327A6 and a "best if used by" date of 12/10/2024; DON'T EAT IT.
According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration, the voluntary advisory issued by Braga Fresh applies to a single production lot of washed and ready-to-eat 12 oz. bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets and is due to the possibility that the produce could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. - fox8.com
While consumers in good health may get off relatively easy, listeria monocytogenes can pack a pretty serious wallop. Those with weakened immune systems, young kids and the elderly could develop infections that can lead to death.
“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.” states the advisory. - fox8.com
Braga Fresh says there have, so far, been no illnesses reported and said that since the "best if used by" date has passed, there are no more bags out there on store shelves. Many people may have bought some earlier though and frozen them so, check your veggie stash.
