Texas might be the 2nd biggest state in the United States, but with over 1,200 cities statewide, there are bound to be some small places to live. And there are...VERY small places to live. I know people like to call El Paso "small", because we're not as big as Dallas or Houston. But we still have over 677,000 people who live here. That doesn't come CLOSE to the smallest town in Texas, which makes up barely a FRACTION of El Paso's population.

What are the smallest cities in Texas?

In terms of the smallest places to live in Texas, we need to look at populations with small numbers. And I mean... SMALL. Like less than 100 people small.

Take Quail, Texas; located 100 miles east of Amarillo. It used to be large back around the 1940s but nowadays Quail has a population of around 20 people. You can actually see what Quail USED to look like decades ago.

Another very small town is Tulsita, Texas; just north of Corpus Cristi, Tulsita is a town with only 14 people. It's also been known to be active in terms of earthquake activity. However it is notable for being home to the Tulsita Ranch.

Those places are small but they pail in comparison to what it indeed THE smallest town in Texas. And for that, you'd need to travel down FM 649 to Jim Hogg County to find the smallest Texas town. That honor goes to Guerra, Texas. Guerra's population is not 10, or 9...or 8...or 7. No the population is FIVE. Compare that to Houston's population (2,296,253)...that's equal to 0.0002% of amount of people who live in the biggest city in Texas.

It used to be much bigger in the 60s, around 75 people. Now only a handful of people stay in Guerra. But the locals know they live in a historic town & they're proud to live in a town with this honor.
